Happy Reading in 2016

I love reading and I love when people suggest a good book. It makes me excited, like opening a present. I wanted to share with you some of the books that I have read this year and give you some titles that are worth picking up. By the way, these are all fiction books but some are based on real people or events. Books are very subjective so check these out online and see if they are to your liking. Many of these I have read as part of my book club and they all received a rating of good or above. (The scoring is excellent, very good, good, fair and poor.)

If you asked me my favorite book from the list it would be a toss up between The Rosie Project and A Man Called Ove. I loved the main characters in each and they both were well written. The stories drew you in and made you invested in the characters. Also, they made me laugh out loud.

Drumroll please……

  • We Are Completely Beside Ourselves by Karen Joy Fowler
  • Ordinary Grace by William Kent Krueger
  • What She Left Behind by Ellen Mane Wiseman
  • The Weight of Blood by Laura McHugh
  • The Nazi Officer’s Wife by Edith Hahn Beers and Susan Dworkin
  • The Pecan Man by Cassie Dandridge Selleck
  • Go Set A Watchman by Harper Lee
  • The Daughter by Jane Shelmilt
  • Circling the Sun by Paula McLain
  • The Martian by Andy Weir
  • A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman
  • The Shoemaker’s Wife by Adriana Trigiani
  • The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins
  • The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion
  • The Rosie Effect by Graeme Simsion
  • Penumbra’s 24 hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan
  • The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt

  1. I am always reading. I go from the last page of one to the first page of another. I have copied your list and will take a look at them on Amazon. I know I have read several of your suggestions in the past and have never been disappointed! Thanks Maya!
