Get Packing in 2016

While everyone is starting to think about dieting and exercising in 2016, I am thinking about travel. I am thinking about where I want to go in the New Year. My goal every year is to go someplace that I haven’t been before. There are so many places to visit that it is hard to choose. Sometimes the places you end up are not your first choice or even on your list but then they become unexpected joyful travel destinations you didn’t even know you wanted to go to.

That happened one year when my husband had a conference in Warsaw, Poland. Poland was not really on my travel radar, but it turned out to be one of the most fascinating places that I have ever been. The history of the country was interesting and the country itself was beautiful. Maybe the low expectations allowed me to meet and exceed what I expected to see there. All I know is that if you get the chance to travel anywhere, take it. You never know what you might discover.

There are a lot of places that I am focusing in on for 2016. I’m not sure if I’ll make it to any of these locations this upcoming year, but I sure will try.

Here is my top 10 list for 2016:

Washington State-Seattle

Nashville

Maine

Oregan- Portland

Africa-safari

Turkey

Canada-Quebec

Norway, Sweden or Finland

Panama

Portugal

As with every New Year, I look forward to a year of unexpected adventures. I am getting ready to be an empty nester so until then I am pulling in the reins, but soon, the possibilities await!

Have a healthy and happy New Year!

  1. Maya, not sure one is to respond to your posts, but I felt compelled….Nashville is a great one, great food, music and maybe the most enthusiastic City there is; Maine, yes, went there a few times while in the service, but for the scenery and the lobster and seafood every day, want to go back; Portugal and Spain, we are going for a few weeks in May, renting an apartment in Madrid and doing day/overnight trips including Lisbon, flights are dirt cheap; Panama, after reading Dan Mccullough’s book, I would like to spend a couple of weeks there; Montreal/Quebec City, want to get there in the fall, Oceana has a cruise up in that area which looks good. Enough….

    1. You are have great comments and yes, I love responses to posts. I would love to hear about your Portugal and Spain trip. Going to Nashville in a few weeks so I can check that off my list. So many places, so little time.
