I know I recently wrote about books to read in 2016, but there are some books coming out that will be made into movies that have great promise that I wanted to share. Some people like to read the books first and then see the movie; others are the opposite. Whichever way you choose, check out my short list below. They are in order of release date.
Me Before You by Jojo Moyes is a book written in 2012. It is the story of a wealthy young man who has a tragic accident and the woman who comes to take care of him. The film is set to release in March 2016.
Same Kind of Different As Me by Ron Hall and Denver Moore. This story surrounds a couple whose lives are affected by a homeless man in a way they never expected. The film is coming out April 2016.
The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins is a thriller about a young woman who rides the train to and from work everyday and begins to voyeuristically watch a young couple. One day she sees something out of the ordinary and this is where the book takes off. If you liked Gone Girl, then this is right up your alley. The movie is set to debut October 2016.
Inferno by Dan Brown is the 4th novel in a series following Angels & Demons, The DaVinci Code and The Lost Symbol. This novel was written in 2013 and showcases Brown’s talent as a mystery/thriller writer. The movie is set to release in October 2016
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by Newt Scamander/aka. JK Rowling is a book written in 2001. This is the textbook seen on Harry Potter’s supply list in the movie The Sorceror’s Stone. It tells the adventures of New Scamander, a wizard who has wild adventures in the streets of New York City with magical creatures, 70 years before Harry Potter arrived on the scene. It is purported to be the first movie in a trilogy. If you loved the Harry Potter series, then this is a must. Watch for the movie in theaters in November 2016. To whet your appetite, watch the trailer. (Did I mention that I love the actor Eddie Redmayne?!)
The Zookeeper’s Wife by Diane Ackerman. It is a book published in 2007 based on the diary of Antonina Zabinska who recounts the story of her and her husband who saved the lives of many Jews in Warsaw, Poland during the German invasion. Antonina’s husband was the director of the Warsaw Zoo and that is the backdrop of the intriguing and amazing story. The film is set to release some time in 2016.
I hope you enjoy my selections.
