Where the heck is Hutchinson Island, you might ask? It is a barrier island on the east coast of Florida, near Port St. Lucie. It is nestled in a perfect location with the Atlantic Ocean to the east and the Indian River to the west. I ended up there one weekend with some friends and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised.
The hotel we stayed in was the Hutchinson Shores Resort and Spa. It is an Opal Property that was not a mega resort but a smaller, hipper hotel with attention to detail throughout.
Let me begin by showing you the room, in all its clean lines and beachy vibes.
Not only was the room awesome, but the hotel was decorated with warm woods, coastal decor and cool accents.
The best part was the beautiful beach that was almost empty except for a few brave souls, from Canada no doubt, who were laying out, in the 60 degree weather. The outdoor patio of the hotel is dotted with sleek outdoor furniture surrounding a rectangle pool overlooking the beach and ocean. The boardwalk to the beach is inviting as it points the way to paradise. We enjoyed a breakfast outside on the patio and then had a nice walk on the beach, wearing a fleece jacket, of course!
While I did not partake in the lounging on the beach activity, the attention to detail was not overlooked on the beach. There were nice umbrellas and chaises in the sand, as well as, covered oval day chaises for two. After our walk we noticed an employee raking sand and making an area for the kids to play, complete with sand toys. Nice touch!
I was thrilled with the quick weekend trip and hope to get there again soon. You might want to check it out too.
